Sgt. Thomas Maroney – Ocoee Florida Police Officer Accused of Stripping, Fondling And Spanking Woman Against Her Will

Ocoee, Fla. (The Weekly Vice) -- Ocoee police Sgt. Thomas Maroney, 35, has been arrested and charged on accusations that he stripped, fondled and then spanked a woman against her will.

According to Orange County authorities and the statement of a 30 year old woman, she and a friend were invited to a party by another officer, where she met and socialized with Maroney. During the party, Maroney allegedly became intoxicated and invited the woman to walk with him around a retention pond at the apartment complex the party was held at.

Once the couple was alone, Maroney allegedly asked her for oral sex. He then pulled down her pants, fondled her genitals and then pinned her down while he spanked her, according to the arrest report. The attack left the woman with bruises and welts, according to the report.

At some point, the woman stated, Maroney removed a leather belt and began spanking her with that as well. The woman said she cried and struggled, but Maroney continued to hold her down.

"Nothing was consensual," stated the woman's attorney Sam Filler. "He brutalized her. He violated the public trust and she doesn't want this to happen to anyone else."

When investigators searched Maroney's home on Tuesday, he turned over a black belt and admitted to spanking the girl - insisting that the act was consensual, according to the arrest report.

Additionally, this was not the first time Maroney has been cited by the department for inappropriate behavior. Maroney also received a written warning from the Ocoee police Department in a similar attempted spanking incident involving an intern in 2004.

The Orange County Sheriff's office conducted an internal investigation. When that investigation concluded, they arrested Maroney on Thursday for attempted sexual battery, false imprisonment and battery.

Maroney's attorney Mark Lippman, recently distributed emails denying every charge against the officer, stating he did nothing wrong. He also went on to praise the officer and predicted the case would be thrown out immediately.

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

Well damn. Mr. defense attorney says he's innocent, so to hell with what everyone else thinks.

Understanding that it's a defense attorney's job to stand up for their client, Mr. Lippman's brash little opinion really falls quite flat, considering the nature of the allegations and Maroney's own admission and obvious history of having a fetish for this sort of thing.

I suppose it's conceivable that a woman went to a party with the sheer intent of filing a false accusation of spanking - and subjecting herself to a year-long legal process - all because she has nothing better to do with her life. I suppose it's just uncanny coincidence that the woman's story almost matches an earlier complaint against Maroney act for act. Yes Mr. Lippman, girls everywhere aspire to be held down and spanked out in an apartment courtyard with a leather belt after meeting a person for the first time.

Nope, I have to call bullshit on your little PR stunt, Mr. Lippman. This cop needs to be put out of business, as he's apparently a smug, arrogant dumbass who has a twisted perception of reality.

I really can't stand it when attorneys feed the public a line of bull so thick, yet expect people to trip all over themselves gobbling it up. Take a pr course or something. Next time your story might be believable.

He did nothing wrong, my ass. Just tie his half nude ass down to a splintery tree and billy club his pecker to death. That'll fix him for a day or two.
