Salem, Mass (The Weekly Vice) -- There is a special place in hell that burns just a little hotter for the particularly loathsome souls who exact torture on a child. If found guilty, we hope the mother above will suffer some serious eternal chap-ass for the crime she's accused of committing. It's absolutely nauseating and inexcusable.
Kristen Anne Labrie, a 36 year old Beverly, Massachusetts woman has been arrested and charged with reckless child endangerment after prosecutors say she withheld critical cancer treatments from her son that will likely result in his death.
Jeremy Fraser, Labrie's 8 year old autistic son had an excellent prognosis when he was first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. His chances of recovery were put at 85%-90% and doctors battled the disease into remission. Now, after the boy was allegedly deprived of vital cancer treatment to maintain his good health, Jeremy's chance of survival has plummeted to just 10%. Experts do not expect Jeremy to make it to his 9th birthday.
Prosecutors say LaBrie did not fill at least half of the prescriptions her son was given; something Jeremy's doctor and investigators checked by examining pharmacy and insurance records. She also canceled at least a dozen vital chemo-tharapy appointments.
As a result of the non-treatment, doctors filed a report of suspected neglect with the state after discovering that the child's cancer had returned, something they contend would not have happened had the treatments and medications continued as required.
"It's back and in a far more deadly form," MacDougall told Judge Michael Uhlarik. "He is not expected to survive."
LaBrie's attorney Kevin James, argued that the charges stem from a "contentious divorce," an argument MacDougall immediately countered by pointing out it was a doctor who reported LaBrie.
Prosecutors asked the judge to set bail in the case at $1,000, however the judge denied the request and set LaBrie free without bail. She is due back in court on August 13th.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
Here we go again, another bleeding heart judge who fails to see the real significance of what adults do to children. Letting this mother out of jail on no bond is nothing less than an outrage.
While this wasn't a direct physical beating we are talking about - it's a physical beating just the same. This little boy's body was physically beaten down by the alleged intentional will of the mother, who allegedly had more important things to do than get her son every treatment he needed to remain healthy.
Good God, Kristen - What on Earth could possibly be more important to your petty little life than making sure you got your own son to every single chemo-tharapy appointment? It's cancer for heaven's sake, not a toothache.
Instead of smugly calling the charge a "weak case" through your dingleberry attorney, you had better hope those charges aren't upgraded to manslaughter if this child dies before you're prosecuted.
We want to wish Eric Fraser, the child's father our prayers for his son. The son this woman apparently ignored because she had "other things more important" to do. Please accept our most sincere wishes for your son's recovery. We know you'll take good care of him now that he's in your care.

I'm an oncology R.N. and this one breaks my heart.
Withholding treatment is not as uncommon as one might think. Usually it's done under the guise of religious beliefs and is completely legal. I could accept the decision not to treat if it was made by a person of legal age, but very often those decisions are made by parents on behalf of their children. The resulting outcome is not a pretty picture. Sorry to get off the beaten track here, but as a medical professional, I find it hard to swallow.
Such a waste. I hate to see that maternal instinct go haywire.
Danny, I was wondering if you had done a story on this case...
Did you know that the mother also has a 16 year old child that the state had removed from her care a few years back? see that is the problem here, take one child but leave the other..I am sorry but if I parent is deemed unfit with one child, than they should wear a label that states they are unfit near any child!!!!
I believe in religion however I don't care what religion is out there, no religion would ever stop me from helping a child fight for his life. Now this poor little boy has no chance and it is all caused by his mothers hands....
To the father, I wish you the ultimate best time that you could ever have with your son before his time is up. And I am so sorry to hear of the events that have led to your sons health conditions. I wish you nothing but the best in life...
Now onto the mother, why the hell is she not being held in jail until guilty? That is just ridiculous, she did wrong she should not be allowed to walk around a free woman after the fact that she has pretty much taken her sons life. There is no excuse, and there is NO justification for this mothers actions. She might as well as drown him, shot him, stabbed him, etc...But no, let me tell you this tops it all...This is beyond insanity. This is a woman in need of severe help along with severe consequences for her actions..And I bet she will be the dotting boo hoo mom when it comes time for her own sons funeral right, no really if it were my child she would not be allowed, sorry she caused it she should not be allowed to play woe was me. Am I being too harsh?
Let me preface this by saying that there is no excuse for what Kristin did to Jeremy. But that does not negate the fact that his father was out of his life for a very long time, by his own choosing I might add, and he is being hailed as parent of the year. I'm sorry, but he is just as responsible for the condition his son is now in. If he is such a great father, where the hell was he the whole year Kristin spent in the hospital with Jeremy? Where was he when these appointments needed to be made. And damn it where the hell was he when Jeremy's meds needed to be picked up. Kristin is not the only one who wronged that little boy. Let's not forget, it took 2 to make that child.
Kerri
I know where he was. Run out on a rail by Kristen, who was trying to put a happy little family together with new boyfriend and didn't want the old penis around to muck up the works.
Yes, I've talked with enough friends and family, I've pretty much gotten the gist of this story.
That being said, you have a valid point as well.
Father should have grown a pair of balls and fought tooth and nail to gain the maximum rights possible to his child and THEN should have insisted he GET those rights.
If he had done that, he would have caught onto the fact that the treatments weren't being administered and he could have drug her ass to court, filing motion for a change of custody, enforcement of visitation rights or just simply forced her to be the parent she should have been.
No, I do not condone what the father did. Not one bit.
No, he is not father of the year.
But I do know how the law works down there - and fathers have a very hard time getting a fair shake in the legal system.
Many fathers just give up fighting it, when they should NEVER give up fighting.
But it's sad they should have to.
Good point Kerri
I used to chat with her online. She was doing double duty for the care of her son. I find this Very hard to belive. The Father of her son is a Huge Douchebag and should be arrested.
Her now 16 year old child decided to leave her to be with his father. He was never taken away. Do not believe everything the media tells you.
Anonymous, kids don't just "decide to go live with" another parent. It doesn't work quite that easily.
There are issues of custody, visitation and child support that have to be figured out.
I know enough about cases like this to take a good guess at what happened.
The kid probably wanted to live with his dad, dad went to court with a strong case for a change of custody and the judge granted that change of custody based on findings of fact to support the change.
In such a case, you both would be corrected. The kid wanted to leave and the judge removed him.
Let's not spin things one way or another, when it was likely both.
"Jupiter Gurl" please read this; http://infaithandmuse.wordpress.com/
I think its a gross display of poor reporting. There is no evidence YET to show that negligence even existed. There is a boy who passed away without his mother. The SOLE caregiver for his ENTIRE life with the exception of a few months where he lived with the so called DAD. Which was only because when the opened this case DSS woke up and decided it would NOW be good to take him from his mom, which meant that the father would now be in sole custody, when this happened he was given the option to PAY to have Jeremy live in a hospital foster care home or live with him.. Eric yet again. went cost effective. This is a joke. The media is ridiculous. A sick young boy had to have his final days and moments with a MONSTER. I have said it before and I will say it again, His MOTHER Kristen was the only CONSTANT in his life and she was prevented from making his death comfortable. More than one person is GUILTY here.... open your eyes, I am not just talking about that wretch of a dad...people are born with intelligence. USE IT.
Alright "anonymous", you've made your point.
Rant all you like about "the media"... but my report was based on allegations made by the prosecutor's office and the medical professionals they interviewed.
This case is not a matter of custody rights. It's a matter of withholding medical treatment from a dependent child who needed it.
The link you've provided gives a lot of "reasons" as to why those treatments were missed.
None of those reasons are justified when a child's life was at stake. Parents roll up their sleeves and do what they MUST every single day, when a life depends on it.
Everything else is just excuse making.
Either way, you provided a link to your point of view - and I'll leave your link posted so readers can make their own decision about the case.
But if you have issues with the allegations made in this case, you should bring it up with the county prosecutor's office, not the media.
They are the one's who interviewed the doctors and made the decision to bring charges.
I fail to see how digging this case back up out of the archives will help Kristen out one bit.
My brother dated her for a long time. She had a few,ok a LOT of screws loose. But I never thought she'd do this. She was a Casey Anthony,a party girl who was looking after a kid and she still wanted to party, and diden't wasnt the kid in the way. I hope the bitch rots on hell. The only partying she'll be doing in jail is with a HUGE Dyke haha.
