New Hyde Park, N.Y. (The Weekly Vice) -- Six New York teens have been arrested and charged with robbery, following two hour crime spree they admit was intended to emulate the video game 'Grand Theft Auto'.
According to Nassau County Police, three teens began the rampage by mugging a man in a parking lot near New Hyde Park at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The teens were then joined by three more teens and continued the crime spree for approximately two hours.
The teens, armed with a bat, crowbar and broomstick smashed their way down a Garden City street, robbing one motorist and vandalizing a van while the driver was inside.
After fleeing, the suspects broke into sheds and storage units in the area in their hunt for makeshift weapons.
The teens then formed a roadblock, forcing a female motorist to stop. Police say the teens intended to carjack her BMW. "They surrounded her car. They tried to get in. She was scared for her life," saidDet. Lt. Raymond Cote. "They stole her cigarettes, and she sped off and called 911," he added.
The smash-and-grab robberies came to an end when police responded to the emergency call and arrested all six youths. When asked why the teens committed the offenses, the teens admitted that they were bored and decided to act out the role of a Grand Theft Auto character.
Police arrested Brandon Cruz, 15, Gurnoor Singh, 14, Samuel Philip, 16, Jaspreet Singh, 17, Dylan Laird, 17, and Stephen Attard, 18.
All teens were charged with robbery except for Jaspreet Singh, who was charged with possession of stolen property.
Police did not release photos of the 3 youngest offenders because of their age.

Seriously though, what the hell is a 14 year old doing, romping the streets all night anyway? Do they make a game called Grand Theft Ass-Whoopin' for parents?

let me just say that, i know these kids personally. I used to hang out with them all.
the reason for committing these crimes has nothing to do with grand theft auto and I believe to blame it on a video game is absurd.
To the idiot above. No one said it was the video game's fault. The video game didn't grow arms and legs and start wreaking havok in the middle of the night, these snot nosed kids did.
The video game was simply the excuse the kids gave for being the complete morons that they are.
Mohawk, spock and lizard boy are the ones you should be arguing with.
Oh yee defender of children everywhere, im surprised you now recommend an ass whoopin for these kids... ahem, child abuse, sexual battering (if whooped on the ass), assualt on a minor an the list goes on, along with that comes you having to register as a sex offender! nice isnt it. but then you wouldnt have anything to blog about if parents werte allowed to whoop there kids.
