Terrell, Texas (The Weekly Vice) -- Salvador Mata, a 51 year old third grade teacher at J.W. Long Elementary School in Terrell, Texas has been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a female student.
According to police, Mata has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Police first became aware of the allegations when the student told her parents about the alleged assault. The child's parents then contacted Terrell police on Saturday.
"We received an outcry from a child at the age of 14 through her family that there was sexual contact," said Captain Arley Samson, Terrell Police Department.
While police have not yet released very many details in the case, they have stated that the alleged activity occurred on school grounds, during school hours. They have also stated that investigators have acquired physical evidence which led them to arrest Mata.
Terrell authorities have stated that the investigation is continuing and that additional charges could be forthcoming in the case.
Although school is not currently in session, Mata has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
