Brownsville, Texas (The Weekly Vice) -- A Texas family files lawsuit against A Texas Justice Of The Peace who is accused of ordering a man to spank his 14 year old stepdaughter in open court.
Mary Vasquez and Daniel Zurita filed a lawsuit on Wednesday stating that Cameron County Justice Of The Peace, Gustova Garza, ordered Daniel Zurita to spank the 14 year old girl with a wooden paddle during a public hearing on the girl's case.
According to the lawsuit, the Justice found the teen-aged girl guilty of being truant. When it came time for sentencing, Justice Garza ordered the teens' stepfather to spank the girl repeatedly on the buttocks.
The family's lawsuit alleges that the paddle appeared to be cut from a 2 x 4 piece of lumber that resembled a "club" rather than paddle.
"The paddles provided by the judge are of such heft and weight that an individual striking an animal with one might be reasonably reported for cruelty to an animal," stated the family in their lawsuit.
The lawsuit also states that Justice Garza threatened to impose a $500 fine on the girl, if the man did not comply with the order.
Zurita testified that after he had finished the spanking, the judge told him that he had not spanked the teen hard enough.
The family lawsuit is asking a state district court to ban the use spanking in court. It also asks that Justice Of The Peace Garza be removed from his position.
When asked about the case, Justice Garza did not deny the allegations, or confirm even seeing the lawsuit.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
We think this Justice may have been drinking a little too much or perhaps he just forgot that you can't mix a spanking fetish with his job duties. Whatever the case, I'd love to see the court transcript.
We won't argue that the girl doesn't deserve a hypothetical spanking, but an actual spanking in an open court is off-the-charts loony. We don't suppose the district court would entertain the idea of spanking the Justice Garza of a spanking with his own wooden club.
Then again, for Garza, that may not even BE a punishment!

Oh PLEASE let us know the fate of this jerk! I was spanked as a child but never with a club and never in a court! And if the court stenographer did her job then there's no was he can deny it happening!
This might have been entertaining if it wasn't her own step dad. That's just wrong on all sorts of levels.
