Noelle Wood - Mother Raises Kids In Fly Infested, Maggot Inviting Trash Hole

Grand Island, Fla (The Weekly Vice) -- Noelle Elise Wood, a 26 year old unemployed mother was arrested Thursday and charged with Child Neglect after authorities paid a visit to her fly infested, maggot encrusted home.

Authorities visited the Wood's home after receiving a tip from an acquaintance of the mother who had recently visited the deplorable conditions.

When officers arrived, they found the home unfit to live in. A spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff's Dept. characterized the home's conditions as the "most deplorable conditions I've seen in a home."

Investigators say the home was infested with flies. There were unwashed dishes in the sink that also littered every counter top. They also noted that the garbage can overflowed with food, flies and maggots.

A half eaten bowl of macaroni sat unattended on a child's high chair that was was littered with spoiling food and a cloud of flies. The bathtub was filthy and filled with dirty clothes as well.

Authorities also noted that the home did not have food, running water or electricity.

Sgt. John Herrell of the Lake County Sheriff's Department said "it definitely constituted child neglect and we had to take action."

Witnesses reportedly have spoken up to say Wood was having a problem with meth, although no drug charges have been filed.

Wood said she is a stay-at-home mom who takes care of her children. "I can't control how much mess is in their rooms," Woods said. "I constantly clean up after the kids. But I go to school full time also, online." She also stated "I'm not a horrible mom."

Noelle Wood was arrested and charged with three counts of child neglect. Her children were taken into custody and placed with family friends. She is currently in a clean cell at the Lake County Jail, held on a $15,000 bond.
