West Palm Beach, FL (The Weekly Vice) -- Molly Olsen, a former Florida police officer is fired after she was caught in a hit and run accident, swerving into other cars while on the job. She denied everything, forgetting that police cruisers now come equipped with dash cams. Oops.
Molly Olson pleaded for her job back in front of a grievance board Thursday, claiming she was fired unfairly after police said she crashed her cruiser into civilian cars and then fled the scene.
On Christmas day, 2006, former officer Olsen was pulled over by another officer after he noted that she was swerving erratically in traffic. When he questioned Olsen about the wrecked cruiser, she denied being in an accident.
"I didn't hit anything" she insisted.
Well, obviously you did, Molly," the fellow officer replies. "You got all this damage here. I got another guy who saw you swerving all over the road."
"I was on my cell phone; I wasn't swerving all over the road," Olson replied.
Perhaps Molly had forgotten that her cruiser was equipped with a dash cam that caught her entire lie on video. In the video, she is seen hitting parked cars. She then fled the scene.
Her camera also recorder her pulling over and inspecting the damage. When she lied to the other officer about wrecking her car, that was all recorded as well.
Olsen was consequently terminated from her job, however she decided to file a grievance to get her job back, insisting it was everyone else's fault.
At the board hearing on Thursday, Olson's lawyer argued that supervisors should have known something was wrong with her that day when she showed up late for daily roll call and was wearing pink flip-flops.
She also blamed the prescription sleep aid Ambien and an insect bite medication for causing the accident, although she was recorded denying the use of any kind of medication.
Olsen maintained she was impaired by a combination of prescription and over-the-counter medication at the time — and therefore not responsible for her actions.
"In many ways she is a victim," her attorney was quoted as saying.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
A victim? Any civilian would get much worse than losing a job. If another person hit several cars and then just drove off, they'd be charged with DUI and leaving the scene of the accident - which would spell almost certain jail time for everyone else.
Yet this officer insisted that she get her job back and trot right back out on the beat, as if she did nothing wrong. Just pathetic.

This Lady is to damn stupid to be a Cop, there are to many BAD Cops in this Country as it is.
Don't get me wrong, we have some Fine Cops, but the few bad ones make it hard on the Many Good ones we have
I agree completely. With the article and the comments. Cops like this make the good one's look bad.
And why exactly DIDN'T she get charged with hit and run? And why didn't she get charged with DUI?
Many people are charged with DUI when they are driving while doped up on medications.
This is the first time I've heard any article bring this question up.
Actually, it's the first I've heard anyone ask this question - and it's a valid point.
Double standards drive me crazy. Sorry, I'll shut up now.
Molly...she is the biggest bitch and deserves everything that has happened to her. Karma is indeed a bitch! She is dumber then a bag of rocks! NO ONE on the force liked her, she would show up at line up in flip flops, and balance her check book, not even paying attention to the announcements. Then when she would be called out, she would bust out in fake tears..no one misses her.. bye bye bitch.
