Houston, TX (The Weekly Vice) -- You only have one high school senior prom, so wanting to make the most of the night, you:
1. Choose a nice dress that meets the dress code - and concentrate on having a great time
2. Ignore posted dress code, show up in a miniskirt, no underwear and rubber-band top, railing against the establishment until officers lead you away in handcuffs.
School administrators at Madison High School in East Houston weren't going to have any part of Marche Taylor's idea of a prom dress.
Taylor arrived at the Madison High School Prom, which was being held at the Sugar Land Marriott, but was denied access after school administrators noted her skimpy get-up.
"She shook her head, she was like you are not getting into this prom,” said Taylor. “We were arguing back and forth because I wanted to know why I can't get into my prom.”
Seeing she wasn't getting anywhere with administrators, Taylor reportedly demanded her money back. It was at that point someone overhearing the commotion contacted police who handcuffed Taylor and escorted her from the premises.
"They didn't give me any options, but to go to jail or go home,” she said.
Madison High School Principal, Aubrey Todd, said that the dress violated the posted rules and was inappropriate. He want on to expressed regret about how things turned out, but argues that the school had little choice.
Marche Taylor still likes her prom dress. She modeled it for reporters the next day, expressing her outrage at being denied the right to attend her own prom.
"I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Taylor said.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
We like the dress too - but for a prom? We're not so sure. Some reporting has chastised the school, pointing out that bikinis show more skin. But a prom is not a pool. If there were no dress code, then what would make a prom different than just going to a night club?
While prom dress codes are indeed somewhat frumpy, the whole point is to dress up, not dress down. The dressing down part is why after prom exists, right?
If one MUST push the bounds of a prom, the ideal tactic would be to wear a traditional dress over the skimpy dress - until you get inside the thing. But you didn't hear that from us.

Couldn't she afford the rest of the dress?
I think the school was right to not let her in. She's graduating from high school, not hooker school (though that's probably going to be her next stop).
Danny,
Her date liked her dress.
Remember J-Los dress at the Oscars? About the same.
I say let the kids be kids. It was harmless!
Dress? What dress?
But seriously.... There's a difference between an under-aged girl and a full grown adult (J-Lo)....
Of COURSE the guy likes her dress. What guy wouldn't like a miniskirt and no panties?
Not a good combination for a school sanctioned event though.
She was all ready to go to her prom and those mean people at the school would not let her in? Opps she said i thought this was a ho-down,not a school dance? And shes a graduate. A little cloth, no undies, eggs showing, butt c-showing and i bet out of it all her mouth or well you guess whats biger?
She looks like a prostitute. Literally...this is not sexy, it is nasty. The Filipina prostitutes here in Korea actually wear things that are identical to this girl's dress. I'm all for being sexy, but she knew what she was doing. There are lots of non-frumpy prom dresses out there-this isn't the 80's. She made the choice to violate the rules. This shouldn't really be news.
She probably wanted to cause a scene and get denied so she can later claim discrimination or emotional trauma and file a bogus law suit against the school or school district.
