Charges In This Case Were Dropped/Dismissed
Rockville, Md. (The Weekly Vice) -- Lindsey H. Froehlich, a 26 year old teacher at the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (RICA), in Rockville, Maryland has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student who attends the special needs school.
According to police, Froehlich, initiated a personal relationship with a resident student that included 'inappropriate touching'. The John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents is a special needs school that specializes in assisting children with emotional disabilities.
Authorities say that the alleged incidents occurred on school property during school hours.
Police began their investigation on May 19th after a school administrator contacted Child Protective Services alleging that Froehlich touched a student in an inappropriate way.
Lindsey H. Froehlich has been charged with fourth-degree sexual offense and sexual abuse of a minor. She was originally jailed on a $250,000 bond, which was later reduced to $75,000.
As a condition of her bond, the court banned Froehlich from the school premises and ordered her to have no contact with minors other than her 3 year old daughter, said David Martella, attorney for Froehlich.
‘‘She has no history of this kind of thing and if you talk to anyone at RICA they'll describe her as outstanding, outstanding, outstanding,” Martella said.
