Houston, Texas (The Weekly Vice) -- A Houston couple has been arrested after police discover the couple's child, frozen solid in a freezer. Police say the couple stored their 6 month old child in a freezer for approximately a year.
Crystal Sosa, 25, and common-law husband Dezmond Blake, 29, have been arrested after police discovered the couple's son, Devin Blake, frozen solid in the couple's refrigerator / freezer.
Police first learned of the child's condition when Blake called police to report that the couple's son had died from natural causes. When investigators arrived, they found the body of a 6 month old child stuffed inside a duffel back inside the couple's motel-apartment freezer. Detectives say the child had been stored inside the refrigerator / freezer for almost a year.
"It's really a difficult concept to put your arms around -- that these people could have lived in this apartment for a year, still use their refrigerator and freezer, knowing full well that their child was inside the freezer," said Detective C.P. Abbey with the Houston Police Department
Sosa and Blake have been arrested and charged with felony 'tampering with evidence' according to police, noting that both suspects gave conflicting stories as to why the child was stored in the freezer.
Investigators who processed the room for evidence have found drugs and a gun inside the room the couple stayed in. An autopsy of the child is being conducted, to try and determine the cause of death.
Authorities have classified the case as 'ongoing' and stated that additional charges may be filed in the case. They also noted that the couple has a criminal history that ranges from prostitution to drug related offenses.

Does it really get much lower than this? How does one go to sleep at night, living in a motel room where your baby is frozen in your refrigerator. Sounds like a warm jail cell and 3 meals a day will be an upgrade.
We'd be surprised if there weren't additional charges coming out of this one. Something tells us that this child didn't just die of natural causes. There's a reason why the couple didn't take this baby to the hospital or free center.
We may be wrong, but we'd venture the couple debated during the year about what to do with the body. Something stopped them until they just couldn't live any longer with a dead baby frozen in their freezer like a holiday turkey.

Please give us an update asap! I have to know these people are going to prison where they will be taken care of!
Its really sad I knew these people. Dezmond was my little girl's godfather. So yeah I was friends with them. Its sad to know that you never know the people you hang around. lets face it no matter what thier reason was it will neverbe good enough. I have went to see both of them only to let them know that no they don't deserve to die but thay need to spend the rest of their lives in prison where they can think about what they have done.
I DON'T KNOW THE FEMALE, BUT I DO KNOW DEZMOND AND HE IS A SELF-CENTERED, IRRESPONSIBLE KID. HE LIKES TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION AND PORTRAYS HIMSELF AS MORE THAN WHAT HE REALLY IS. IT IS TOTALLY BELIEVABLE TO ME THAT HE DID THIS. I'M SURE HE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE CARE OF THE OLDEST DAUGHTER HE HAS. I HOPE SOMEONE DOES TO HIM WHATEVER HE DID TO DEVIN.

Hi Leighann, the last update in this case I was able to find (without going down to the courthouse there in Houston) was back in June.
I am not aware of an additional charge that was added, besides the tampering with evidence charge - however only the autopsy had been completed at that time and the cause of death was ruled "unknown".
That's a very unfortunately thing for the prosecution, who I would imagine suspects this couple of murder or manslaughter.
I believe there was also some toxicology and or DNA tests investigators were waiting on, which can take many months to get results back on.
If someone catches an update to this case before we do, please feel free to alert us.
