Dade City, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Christina Shehow, a 16 year old Pasco High School student has been arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence for allegedly poisoning her mother.
Pasco, Florida officials arrested the 16 year old on Tuesday, amid allegations that the teen used seasoning salt to poison her mother, knowing her mother had a severe food allergy to seasoning salt.
Investigators say the teen admitted putting seasoning salt in her mother's food. She also told police that she was not happy with her home life, but did not intend to hurt her mother.
Lenna Mercer-Goodwin, the teens' 39 year old mother was attending her other daughter's baseball practice when she began having a severe reaction. Mercer-Goodwin was too ill to administer her own medication, so Shehow administered the epinephrine shot.
On May 7, Shehow's stepfather, William Goodwin, went to the sheriff's District II office and reported that he thought his stepdaughter might be tampering with his wife's food. He explained that his wife had been having severe unexplained allergic reactions to food, requiring doses from his wife's EpiPen.
The arrest affidavit also stated that Shehow's 11 year old sister, Samantha saw Christina Shehow sprinkle seasoned salt on her mother's food, but was too afraid to speak up. Samantha tol investigators that her sister threatened to "beat her up until she was dead" if she told, according to the police affidavit.
The incident was allegedly all precipitated when Shehow's mother took away the teens cell phone because had text messaged too much, going over the limit.
Christina Shehow has been charged on felony Aggravated Domestic Violence charges and was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center in Land O' Lakes, Florida.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
I couldn't find a mug shot listing, so the photo above came from Christina's MySpace profile, which has now been set to private. Note the MySpace mood "infuriated" which has been updated since Christina's release from jail.
Sounds like this teen is a spoiled brat who still doesn't realize that she could be in jail on attempted murder charges if Prosecutors had decided to go that way with the case.
