Sgt. Thomas Petty, a 43 year old veteran of the Bradenton police force resigned immediately following allegations that he had a 10 year long extramarital affair while in uniform. Well, that's where the problem starts. He was often 'out of his uniform' many times while on the job. Enter Alison Wright.
According to filed police reports, Alison Wright told officials that Petty had sex with her while he was on duty.
Wright accused Sgt. Petty of stealing from her and then and filed an official complaint saying she had a relationship with Petty for more than 10 years. Wright alleged that Petty had sex with her several times while he was on duty and in uniform, according to her complaint.
To add a little merit to the allegations, officers overheard Petty talking to the woman, telling her 'He was done with her'.
After Petty submitted his resignation from the force, the woman trotted back in soon after and recanted her story.
Police have announced no plans to investigate the matter.
As for Ms. Wright, she obviously has forgiven him now. See, we told you that Bradenton is a friendly town.
The wife is not amused.
