Fort Pierce, FL (The Weekly Vice) -- Mary E. Fasnacht, a 19 year old Florida woman was arrested and charged with child neglect after police found her 1 year old baby living in a filthy house that was cluttered with trash and spoiling food.
On an anonymous tip that reported that a child was living in filthy conditions, police officers and child welfare workers were dispatched to the home of Mary Fasnacht. When they arrived, they found a home that was "Not fit for human residence," according to the arresting affidavit.
Police characterized the two bedroom house as a place where "no child could remain healthy," noting that there was no running water and the home smelled of human waste.
"By the level of filth and smell coming from the home, it appeared from outside of the home, to be a dangerous environment for humans to reside in," stated the police affidavit.
Authorities also noted in the report that every room in the house was filthy, cluttered with garbage, dirty diapers, decaying food and other various items.
The report went on to state "The toilet bowl was filled with human feces and female hygiene products and was in reach of the child. There were dried/evaporated stains in the living room that were still moist and sticky and attracted dirt to make a filth paste."
In the center of it all, they found a 1 year old boy in a crib out in the living room who was taken into protective custody.
Fasnacht was arrested and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail. She was ordered held on a $2,500 bond.
