Nassau County, Fla (The Weekly Vice) -- Tammy Renee Ogletree a 42 year old resident of Easton Georgia and her daughter Amanda Renee Coker of Yulee were arrested after investigators say the duo embezzled and stole nearly a million dollars from a Nursery.
In a final strange twist, police say the daughter, who confessed to helping her mother commit the crime, was the person to turn her mother in.
Investigators say Ogletree embezzled about $600,000 and then stole another $350,000 in deposits from the Yulee nursery. Police say it was Ogletree that actually stole the money and that her daughter covered up the theft by manipulating company computer records.
She was basically was running a scam -- an embezzlement -- to cover up her own schemes and be able to commit a crime," said Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Seagraves.
Police allege that Ogletree took signed blank checks that were intended to purchase business supplies, and then wrote them to herself, pocketing between $5,000 and $10,000 each time.
"This money was actually being used to spend on their own necessities and needs but as well as going out to dinner and doing whatever. She was supporting everybody in the family off of the stolen money," Seagraves said.
The daughter has been charged with burglary and offense against computer user and is being held in the Nassau County Jail on a $110,004 bond. Ogletree is being held at the Putnam County Jail in Georgia on a $500,002 bond. It is expected that she will be extradited back to Florida to face charges there.
