Dardenne Prairie, Mo ( The Weekly Vice ) -- Melissa R. Moss, a 27 year old former teacher at Barat Academy in Dardenne Prairie has been charged with furnishing pornographic material to a minor after she emailed nude photos of herself to a 15 year old student.
Barat school officials say that Moss was fired last year, just 14 weeks after the Catholic school first opened. They also said the issue surfaced when parents of a 15 year old student of the school checked the boy's email and complained to school administrators.
Moss' attorney, Michael Kielty has claimed that he doesn't believe Moss committed a crime. When pressed to explain why sending nude photos to a minor wasn't a crime, he basically played dead - claiming to have never seen the evidence.
St. Charles County Prosecutor Jack Banas said that Moss has been charged with a misdemeanor by furnishing pornographic material to a minor and that the circumstances were unusual. "The allegation is that she essentially sent photographs of herself in an undressed manor in questions through the Internet," Banas said.
Barat school officials have participated in many interviews, noting that a thorough background check had been conducted and that Moss came to the school with letters of recommendation of the 'highest regard'.
News service articles, forums and a Facebook page carrying the story have all received multiple postings from students who have expressed support for Moss. Comments range from defending her to missing her and wanting her back at the school.

Do you suppose that if I emailed nude photos of myself to some minors that I would be charged with just a misdemeanor? I don't think so.
Abouna, this is the track record of the prosecuting attorney out in St. Charles - who has a history of going light of any female who stalks, abuses or subjects a teenager to adult material.
Jack Banas was the fool who defended Lori Drew, a woman who stalked a 15 year old girl named Megan Meier to her death. She set the girl up with a fake romance and then kicked the legs out from ender her chair.
Banas worked over time to hush the story up - and refused to press any kind of charge. I wrote extensively about this case here on the Weekly Vice - and in fact was the premier case that launched the site.
He's pathetic and should be voted out of office at the first available opportunity. If he isn't, then the fault lies with Dardenne prairie/ St. Charles residents for this kind of injustice...
Although, I do have to note one thing. The fact that the teacher engaged in these photos, increase the likelihood that she was grooming this young boy for a next step....
